Disguising gray hair can be a never-ending battle, says Infusium 23 hair health expert Gavin Harwin, but women can now embrace all shades of gray. He provides these gray hair tips–for natural of not gray hair:

• With gray hair, it’s important to avoid things that look like roller sets and teasing. Think simple and modern, not retro, to keep it fresh.

refinery29 asked up-and-coming New York designer Katie Gallagher the question I would ask: How do you get your hair that color?

“I’m naturally very blonde; so when I dye the entire thing cool blonde and use the right toner, I get a blue/gray hue,” she says. “It’s basically what happens to the grandmas you see that have light pink, purple, or blue hair. They had a little chemical accident with their color and the toner mixture…or they’re just really cool.”

Lela pointed out that it’s actually blue, which you can tell a lot better in this pic. In the top one, it just makes her look like one of those crazy old ladies that dyes their hair that accidental shade of blue/gray. Crap. She’s growing on me. I love the blue…

Like it or not, the gray hair trend continues. And apparently shows no sign of dying down, considering one of the biggest fashion icons around, Kate Moss,  just dyed gray streaks into her blonde hair. Like Pixie Geldof, Kate is part of the growing trend of younger (mostly British still, it seems) women who are intentionally dying their hair gray.

My only guess is that Kate did it to match the silver fox she was kicking it with at the Longchamp party where she launched her signature collection, Kate Moss for Longchamp. Kate looks incredibly chic, but I still don’t get the gray hair thing. What’s wrong with just putting in platinum highlights. Why gray? I think maybe they’re shooting for silver, but it reads gray. Blah.

I’m listening to the Golden Globes pre-pre show online and looking around for hairspiration… Check out this platinum blonde bob with blunt bangs. It’s so blonde it’s almost gray! She looks unique and chic. I love the chunky geometric necklace.

We’ve seen side-swept bangs for so long, but lately these wispy bangs across the brow are making a comeback. They’re very youthful.

Is gray hair the next in-vogue hair color? According to Hanna Hanra of the Times UK, “growing numbers of women are no longer eschewing the very thought of gray, but embracing a gunmetal mane with pride–and attitude.” And most of them are under thirty. Including 19-year-old British socialite, and Bob Geldof’s daughter, Pixie Geldof, pictured above with makeup maven Pat McGrath. Pixie showed off her silvery gray hair at the British Fashion Awards last week.

Pixie told Times UK, “I’d been blonde for three years and fancied a change. I wasn’t thinking about the color, I just put on a bunch of toner one day, and there it was. It was rad. I didn’t want to do another colour like pink, grey just seemed obvious.”

So, a hair coloring accident started this trend? Sounds like it!

Hanra says, “This is a youth movement, from east London’s cool set to models on the Paris catwalks, women are throwing the tonsorial rulebook out of the window and going with the gray.”

Nicole Kidman has been looking incredibly good lately. There have been rumors in the industry that Nicole’s hair turned gray at a very young age, and since gray is hard to cover, she uses wigs and extensions in her films and on the red carpet.

Nicole obviously had in some new extra-long extensions when leaving her NYC apartment this morning (November 16). I love it! I’m thrilled to see an example of good extensions on a celeb. (Can she give her stylist’s name to Mischa, please?) Nicole’s extensions look natural, soft and healthy, and the hair color is perfect on Nicole.

I also like the monochromatic look she’s wearing with the bright red bag/blue shoes. So cute. Nicole is ttl my friend in my head. (tm Wendy Williams.)

I just got back from Palm Springs, so my brain is still in foggy, vaca mode. But I did stumble upon this very hair inspiration worthy post.

I love women who let their hair gray naturally. Over this vacation with my boyfriend’s family, we were discussing an aunt who we all think is very amazing and very beautiful. And she has the most lovely gray hair.

Dyeing isn’t always the best route. Some people look quite stunning with their naturally gray hair. Also, how fantastic is it to see someone just age? To just let their beautiful aged face shine through. I suppose it’s what most of us see around us in our families… But not in the media. Not that I am 100% against plastic surgery, but it’s just become so omnipresent.

There’s been plenty of gossip that Nicole Kidman’s hair is actually totally gray and that she wears wigs in all of her movies.

If it’s true, (which it kinda looks like it is) I feel for her. Covering gray is difficult because it doesn’t hold color as well as normal hair, and the texture is far more coarse and wiry.

I miss redhead Nic.

And I miss her ability to make facial expressions.
