10.03.10Brazilian Blowouts Formaldehyde-Free?I have written extensively about the Brazilian Blowout here on Hair On The Brain, and the company has always maintained that their product is formaldehyde-free. But now reports from Oregon's Occupational Safety & Health Administration say Brazilian Blowout has been found to actually contain formaldehyde. This was after stylists at an Oregon hair salon reported difficulty breathing, nosebleeds, and eye irritation after coming into contact with the formula. 05.17.10Could Hair Dye Make You Sick?A recent study out of England has linked hair dye with progressive liver disease. Published in the international gastroenterology journal, aptly called Gut, British researchers revealed the findings of over 5,000 people who were surveyed about their risks for primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) -- an early form of liver cirrhosis and long-term progressive autoimmune disease. PBC is thought to be caused, at least in part, by certain environmental factors such as chemicals found in hair dye.
