Backstage at Proenza Schouler, the ghd IV flat iron was used to create 1920’s-style waves, which are very popular right now. The ghd IV flattens, curls and bends in one handy tool. The company has launched a Web site with an image gallery full of looks that you can create with the iron, plus step-by-step instructions on how to get great results. I want one!!
Aveda Dry Remedy Moisturizing Treatment Masque
I have been trying out Aveda’s line of hair and skin products recently. Their line is plant-based, and Aveda really strives to help the environment. Plus, their products smell great. But do they work? Sunday I tried the Dry Remedy Moisturizing Treatment Masque. I needed a break from weekly styling stress. I take pretty good care of my hair, but it is very fine, so I have to pamper every strand. The masque did the trick! After using it, my hair was super soft and shiny. I definitely recommend it if you have dry or damaged hair.
Bumble and Bumble Super Rich Conditioner
This is an extremely moisturizing conditioner for dry hair, or would work well as an occasional treat for normal hair.
Phyto Phytophanere Dietary Supplement For Hair & Nails
I’ve had pretty fine hair my whole life, and I understand that proper nutrition goes hand-in-hand with having healthy, full hair and strong nails. That said, sometimes everyone needs some extra help. My good buddy Amber over at Beauty Junkies Unite, tipped me off to Phyto’s supplement (above) when I was going through a bought of thinning hair, and they really helped. They are a little pricey, but can be worth it.
Frederic Fekkai Glossing Cream
I’ve used this product off and on for many years. I always have a tube on hand. It does a similar job to Aveda’s Smoothing Fluid. It gives your hair serious shine with just a little bit of control. It absorbs instantly and leaves no greasiness. Also, it smells great.
Oscar Blandi Pronto – Dry Shampoo
I totally love this product. It cleans hair by absorbing extra oil and increases volume at your roots. It’s perfect for extending the life of a blowout, freshening up your bangs mid-day, or when you’re in a rush after the gym. And it has a great lemon smell!
Aveda Brilliant Damage Control
I use Damage Control before styling my hair, and I really think it has helped me keep my hair healthy. Apply the spray on damp hair to protect it from heat and sun damage.
The Mason Pearson hair brush originated in 1885 (!) and are still made by hand today. The cushioned brush conforms to the contours of the scalp, to accomplish the 3 primary purposes of hair brushing: 1) to stimulate circulation to the hair follicles, 2) to exfoliate the scalp and remove debris in the hair, and, most importantly, 3) to distribute natural oils throughout. The cushion allows the bristles to reach all parts of the scalp and every hair without irritating the skin.
This deep conditioner is amazing! It left my hair incredibly smooth and soft — even after applying permanent hair color. It’s designed for damage repair, so if you color your hair or use a lot of thermal styling, this is a great hair treatment. You will definitely see an immediate difference in your hair’s texture and appearance. I highly recommend it!

GHD IV FLAT IRONS. BEING THAT MY DIEASE OF M.S AFFECT THE MORE DOMINANT SIDE OF MY BODY WHICH IS THE LEFT, MY HAIR IS THICK AS I DONT KNOW WHAT, AND I WAS LEFT HANDED SO NOW ITS EVEN HARDER TO DO MY HAIR.. I WOULD LOVVVVVVVE FLAT IONS.
[...] this as a hair mask only and not a daily conditioner. I thinking it probably works similarly to the Joico K Pak [...]
Love the Joico K-Pak. Practically the best conditioner out there. I was a bit surprised to not see Pureology on this list…have you tried it?
Alaina, I have actually never tried any Pureology products. You like them? What’s your favorite? Also, if you would like to see more product reviews, I am doing them over at http://www.beautygirlreviews.com now. Check it out, if you haven’t already!
Got myself a Mason pearson brush and I LOVE IT! Its amazing. I’m trying to grow my hair and it already looks far more healthy. I bought mine from Amazon and its perfect.
hairmare: I still haven’t bought one… I was going to buy a sephora knockoff, but I really want a MP so badly! I’m glad you like yours!!
Go for it Valerie. make sure you go on their website and match the brush to your hair type. It will last you years. I also think its a good time to get into the brush cleaning habit!
hairmare: you’re a shopping enabler! haha.
I was trying to decide between a 100% boar bristle and a boar/nylon combo. Which one did you get?
Youth2Face is a 100% natural way to stimulate hair growth (scalp ad eyebrows) as well as boosts collagen. Try it.
Sorry!!! I’ve been away with the fairies! I had the 100% boar bristle, but my hair is quite fine and shoulder length (its fine but there’s a lot of it…?? If you know what I mean). Anyway, If your hair is thick then get the combination of boar/nylon.
..oh and I’m about to try the aveda dry remedy masque for the first time.. excited or what?!
Hairmare: oooh! Hope you like it!
hairmare: thanks! I am actually reviewing a 100% boar bristle brush by Paul Labrecque right now so my MP lust has been momentarily sated.
