How To: Lauren’s Hair Color

HOTB reader Sessie wanted to know what to call Lauren Conrad‘s hair color–was it a level 7N? Dark blonde? Light brown? Kaz Amor, celeb colorist and partner at Warren-Tricomi in LA reported to Hair Boutique that Lauren’s color is a natural Level 6 and that he lightens it to a Level 7 blonde.

To achieve this shade, Kaz utilizes Redken hair color in three ways. First Kaz smudges Redken Blonding Gels Gold Series into Lauren’s natural base to lighten it one level. He then paints on beach-blonde highlights, using a “balayage” or freehand highlighting technique. For this step, Kaz uses Redken Blonde Icing + 40 Volume Developer. He pulls the look together with a glaze using Redken Shades EQ Equalizing Conditioning Color Gloss. This seals in Lauren’s new color, giving it staying power, plus radiant shine.

While I love reading the specifics of how people (especially celebs!) color their hair, I don’t recommend trying this at home. Going one shade darker at home using a high quality demi-perm can be OK, but going lighter on your own is never a good idea. But at least you can ask your stylist for Lauren’s color very accurately!

Would you guys copy Lauren Conrad’s hair color?
