Hair On The Brain reader Jumbly passed on this little tidbit to me, and it’s something I’d heard of before, but never thought people, you know, actually did in real life. Allison over on Petit Elefant washed her hair in beer. And no she wasn’t drinking in the shower and got the beer and the shampoo mixed up. (Actually, I might have done before. Ya know, college ‘n stuff. ) Allison washed her hair with beer on purpose. And apparently she was super happy with the results!
All you do is shampoo like normal, rinse, and dump a can of cheap beer over your head. Leave it on while you go about your showery business, and then rinse it out. Like, rinse it all out because otherwise you’re going to smell like the floor of a frat house. Then condition and try to act sober.

What is this supposed to do? Make it shine?

Kristy: I think the main thing it’s suppose to do is make it more shiny? If you do it, pretty please report back? I might try it, but does anywhere sell one can of cheap beer you think??

I don’t do it only with beer. My hairstylist mixes it with water and then sprays it on my hair. At home I do the same. It’s like a conditioner and gives you really shiny hair. And once I shower in the morning your shampoo gets rid of the beer…
Voila.
