How To: Carey's Oscar Hair

Looking better than usual at last nights Oscars, Carey Mulligan. She wore a full-skirted black Prada that was adorned with unusual embroidery: tiny forks, knives and scissors. You can’t really tell what they are though, right? Although I don’t personally love this dress–it seems a little dour, the hem line BUGS, and omg those shoes–I like this dress on Carey because it seems like something she would actually pick, something she seems comfortable in, and she looks happy and confident in it. She told the AP she didn’t choose the unusual dress to make a statement. “I just thought it was really cool,” she said. “It’s not a dress where I have to wear Spanx or anything, so I’m good.”

The bodice of the dress, I like. This is a very flattering neckline on Carey. And how unbelievably gorgeous are these 19th Century cascading diamond pendants earrings by Fred Leighton? THIS is how you dress up short hair, by the way. Wow.

Suave Professional Jenny Cho styled Carey Mulligan for the big night. Jenny wanted Carey to look fresh and beautiful.  And her short, chic style was inspired by Mia Farrow.

How to Get Carey’s Oscar Look:

  • Jenny applied a dime size of Suave Professionals Weather Protection 365 Anti-Frizz & Flyaway Cream Gel to Carey’s damp hair.
  • Next, she used a blow dryer and a flat Mason Pearson brush on Carey’s hair.
  • Then Jenny swept Carey’s bangs gracefully to the side for a feminine look.
  • Jenny finished with a hairspray to set the look, control the shape of the hair, and help it hold up to the humidity and the night’s events!
