Have you guys seen the new ProActiv commercials featuring Katy Perry? Kinda gnarly. Katy was reportedly paid millions of dollars for her contract. I swear if I was rich and famous, I would try really hard not to whore out for ProActiv because I think it cheapens your image. Is that really worth the $$? For Katy, who is still moving up in her career, it just doesn’t seem like a good idea. But for the other new ProActiv spokeshole, Avril Lavigne, it’s fine. She sucks anyway.
What do you guys think: Do you like the new Katy Perry ProActiv commercials? Do you use/like ProActiv?

I used ProActiv years ago. Honestly the best product they offer is the mask. Love the mask. Their other products worked okay for awhile, but bleached out all of my towels and sheets. It just got to the point where it wasn’t doing much for me so I moved on to other products. I use Jurlique now…which smells heavenly and I feel it is a more natural and better product.
Sorta surprised Katy Perry is doing these commercials but I feel like whatever. I don’t think it will hurt her image. It’s sort of neutral.
Hey Tracy: I have read very mixed reviews of ProActiv. Seems like it really works for some people–works not at all for others. And I don’t know about Katy’s image. For what it’s worth, it made me think less of her…
Oh Proactiv was horrible on me a few years ago! It was so harsh for my skin I got even more breakouts and at one point my skin started to peel. :(
I too am surprised Katy would do an ad like this, seems so unlike her (although i don’t know her obviously, but from the image she portrays). But I guess money talks!
I saw the commercial last night during American Idol and I thought she looked weird. I didn’t even recognize her. I think it was her 1950’s mom-like hairstlye or something.
Audrey: I agree. she looked/sounded so weird to me!
Rennee: seriously, millions of dollars would be hard to pass up. But you know all these celeb endorsers don’t actually use ProActiv… I have heard it is harsh on the skin too. But people with severe acne are willing to try a lot of different things to help their skin. It’s a tricky issue. The reviews online for it are pretty bad. (I checked again after I wrote this post.) Putting harsh chemicals on your skin is not the answer when treating acne. I’d suggesting going to a dermatologist instead of listening to Katy Perry. ;)
don’t really know what to say regarding katy perry – i mean does she even do music anymore – or is she over that? anyway, as far as proactiv goes – not to sound like a commercial – but i use it and really it was like miraculous for me. used over the counter and prescription stuff all the way through through childhood to the first year or two of college and no routine, no medicine, no trip to the dermotologist worked. i started using proactiv – was actually surprised it dried out my skin for a bit the first week – but after that never again. compared to the stuff i have used in the past it really is mild – but it really depends on your skin type. if only i would have known about it in middle school!
LOL. I was actually in a Proactiv commercial last July. I like Proactiv and it works for me. But everyone is different. I don’t think Katy Perry is any less of a person for being in a Proactiv commercial.
SWMM: You were? I think that’s cool, actually… Maybe I should rethink my stance on it now that I’ve gone through more issues with my skin. I kind of get it more now, weirdly?
