Karen Elson replaced Angelina Jolie as the face of knitwear label St. John. However, why this switch took place is still up for some debate. St. John CEO Glenn McMahon says it was time for a break from actresses and blondes, referring to Jolie and St. John’s original model, Kelly Gray, the daughter of one of the founders and a former creative director at the company. However, McMahon has also told sources that Jolie — who reportedly had issues with the dresses that she was given to wear to red carpet events — “overshadowed the brand,” prompting reports that Jolie had been dumped in favor of Elson. St. John now insists Jolie’s three-year contract with St John ended amicably in 2008 and there was no controversy.

I, for one, am happy with this switch. We see so much for Angelina Jolie as it is, and I can never see enough of Karen Elson. I mean, check out that hair.

I really love her very red hair with her very pale skin. I really liked the ads Angelina did for them, but I’m sure they wanted someone who wasn’t so big. Because she totally overshadowed the brand.
Chris: Karen is one of my favorite models. I just love her look. She’s stunning! Regarding Angelina, it’s weird to think that she would actually be too much of a name for them, but I see where they’re coming from. Also, something tells me Angelina is coping with the news just fine.
So I guess Karen Elson, iconic redhead, is the sherbet of models. At the end of the day…do you own a St. John anything? My sister Rita from New Jersey does. But that’s because this particular jacket has a bit of a boucle, Chanel-ish vibe-ish. See pics at IMeanWhat.com- http://bit.ly/90oS38
Ryan: I don’t own a St. John anything. Sadly, I also don’t own a Chanel anything. (sadface.)
