My friend Alison is thinking about dyeing her hair. She wants to go back to a brunette color because she’s tired of messing with roots and fading highlights. She’s like to go blonder, but feels it’s too expensive…
I’m thinking maybe this Sarah Jessica Parker-esque shade? Because it’s intentionally faded out and the roots are grown out. The lightest part–the sort of caramel blonde shade–is at the ends and in the front. You can also do a darker version of this. I think it’s pretty and natural and close to your coloring, A. Here is another shot from SJP heading into the Late Show with David Letterman in NYC yesterday (Dec. 15):
Thoughts?
P.S. Please try to ignore the UGGS in the first pic and the weird pink plastic purse in BOTH pictures. I don’t know what’s going on there.

ok, so here in AR, we call this look white trash. I’ve been rocking this look for about 6 weeks now…glad to know I’m in style.
Oh, I like this. I don’t think it is white trash (sorry Beth!). White trash would be platinum blonde with dark roots IMHO.
SJP always looks great. I wish my hair was wavy like hers! I think it’s easier to pull off roots with curls vs straight hair.
Beth, hee. You mean the grown out roots thing?
Tracy: I’m glad you liked it. I thought she looked amazing on David Letterman. I don’t think she looks trashy either, of course. And I love her hair texture too. It’s beautiful. :)
Oh please don’t misunderstand – I love SJP and her hair, I don’t think she looks trashy, but the dark roots and lighter ends (really my grown out highlights)can be confused as trashy…not cutting edge, which is what I’m going to try selling around here. We are the last to catch up…love the blog!
Thanks, Beth! Glad you like. ;) Weirdly, I kinda like the lighter ends thing? I dunno… It’s better than streaky piecey highlights ala kate gosselin. ;)
