Interview with Celebrity Stylist Tippi Shorter

Tippi-ShorterTippi Shorter  has made a big name for herself over the past 15 years. In 1995, Tippi headed from her home town of Long Beach, California, to New York City. Before long she opened Luxe Studio in Soho. Tippi later sold the successful salon to pursue other career opportunities, such as styling for photo shoots, music videos and commercials. Tippi has styled the tresses of A-list stars, including Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Vanessa Williams, and her work has been seen on the covers and editorial pages of In Style and Vanity Fair. But Tippi’s “big, sexy, healthy hair” can be easily re-created at home, as well. Tippi is now creating her own hair extension line “Get Gorgeous Hair” and working as Avon’s Global Stylist Advisor. She was sweet enough to answer a few questions for HOTB about holiday hair, upcoming hair trends and more! Check it out.

Hair on the Brain: What is a quick and easy way to dress up your hair when going to a holiday party?

Tippi: The easiest way to dress up a look is with a little bit of shine. Finish any style with Avon Advance Techniques Mirror Shine Spray to give that extra boost of shine. I also love working with hair accessories.

HOTB: What will be a major hair trend for 2010?

Tippi: I believe hair with volume will be huge next year… just don’t go too crazy with the volume–controlled volume.

HOTB: What was the worst hair trend of the last decade?

Get Tippi’s answer to that question and more of my interview, after the break!

Tippi: The worst hair trend of the last decade was the mullet…

HOTB: What celeb hair are you currently loving?

Tippi: I am personally a fan of Alicia Key’s hair.

HOTB: What beauty products/tools can you not live without?

Tippi: Each person’s hair is unique and needs special attention. Advance Techniques Moisture Sleek Collection is a universal collection from Avon that works to smooth several different hair types. In addition, I always have to have my Mason Pearson brush and my one pass flatiron.
