Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be backstage during a Chanel fashion show? During the Chanel Spring/Summer 2010, a tiny camera was fitted into a model’s hair so viewers can experience everything that goes on backstage and on the runway during the Chanel show. This is so worth a look…

What a great clip! It made me feel nervous watching it.
Really like your blog, I have added you to my blogroll!
Oh, great, The Beauty Edit! I am so glad you liked the video. I thought it was so cool to watch that perched up in a model’s hair… & I am glad you like my blog too.
was she the tallest model in the room? seemed like she was looking down on everyone (literally, not in a stuck up model way). maybe she had tall hair. and it doesn’t seem like the camera was all that well hidden, cause she got a few long, hard looks. wonder how many people knew about the video experiment.
that’s awesome that she took it out onto the runway (especially for that show, with the unusual format). walking in front of all those people!! and i spotted karl! being a runway model must be odd for the psyche. on the one hand, you’re celebrated for your beauty and put on a pedistal. on the other hand, you’re not really given the time of day by the greats of the fashion industry, you’re just another walking mannequin, with relatively short sustainablilty in the business. must be a lot of highs and lows.
Kat, major word to your comment. What I found odd/interesting about it was how… anti-climatic the runway segment was? Maybe because of the odd format of that show, but the build up of the backstage was more interesting. The runway part had an odd removed feeling as a viewer. I wonder if that is how it really feels? And I agree, must be so odd for the psyche. Treated like royalty at times and treated like a walking clothes hanger at times… Weird. Like you said, such highs & lows. Anyone know if any fashion model has written a very good autobiography on the experience? Could google. Feeling pre-Thanksgiving lazy. ;)
totally. in a way, i expected more craziness backstage, but i’m sure chanel’s as much a well-oiled machine as any fashion show could be. and yeah, the runway was a weird blur. maybe cause it was such a sea of people. it’s that hurry-up-and-wait atmosphere that would drive me to drink (and there goes my model figure). all that build up and production for seconds on the runway. of course, the pressure to perform has to be intense, and some outfits those girls have to try their darndest to walk in on a high-polished runway.. i fall more often under better conditions in my daily life, sober.
Kat, totally! It’s a lot like with musicians & drinking/drug use with the hurry up and wait and the pressure and the come down, etc.
