yep, darken the eyebrows a bit, go neutral on the eyes and gives those lips a big pop of color. if you’re going to go blonde, go va-va-va-voom blonde with a daring red lip. secondly, pastels and neutrals don’t work with that white blonde. washes everything out. so a more daring color dress would help as well. a deep blue or even black. maybe even red to match the lips.

if this is going to work — and I don’t think it will with Katharine; she’s not Madonna … someone who did blonde the RIGHT way in the very late-80s, early 90s — after all — she’d have to make the skin very pale, darken the brows and make the lips pop and then throw on something with a more deeply saturated color.

think 1940s pin-up, but with a more golden shade to the hair.

in any case, if she’s resorting to tricks to get attention for her album, the industry buzz must not be that great.

SM, well shoot. I love Vertigo. I loved Jimmy Stewart growing up. I use to watch old movies with my mom, and I wanted to marry Jimmy Stewart! (aw.) Kim Novak is gorgeous… I just don’t think Katharine’s skin tone is right for the shade. But dang, you had to go and bring up that movie & now I want to love it.

Leila, change is good, you’re right. And hair is to be experimented with. It’s fun. And, it always grows back & can always be dyed.

I agree, Valerie. She looked waaaay better as a brunette. Blonde hair makes her look washed out and doesn’t bring out her beautiful eyes.
However, I understand that she wanted a change. She seems to feel happy and confident about it, and it’s good to have fun with hair.

that’s a really good point. they were emphasizing her youth in the movie, and she never had heavy eye makeup on. it can definitely age you, but a natural eye with a pop of color on the lips looks fresh, youthful, and fun. i’ve always loved that bright lipstick/nude eye combo, it looks so fresh and youthful:

but not if you have darkness under your eyes like me. then i look tired. to be fair, they are models after all. they genetically look fresh, youthful, and well rested. katherine should give that look a try.

yeah, her skin looks unearthly, subtly at first, but i can’t stop squinting at it now.

Kat: Hmm, what’s interesting about Kirsten Dunst in that Marie Antoinette pic, is that the eyes are kept really simple in pastel colors, almost watercolor, washes-out shades and her lips are that stained red… It works with the hair color. And with Katharine’s makeup they did the opposite with more bold eyes and a neutral lip. I think you’re right that she really needs color on her lip. And her skin tone just looks off. Like, seriously off.

i’m not mad at it, but the styling maybe isn’t ideal, a little aging. the washed-out pink lipstick isn’t helping matters. a little color on the lip would help a lot. the pale orange spray tan is throwing it all off, too. and the dynasty earrings.
